From left to right: Darrell Gray, Johnnie Richardson, Chief Terry Richardson, Edmond Richardson, Councillor Carolyn Fraser, councillor Susan Ducasse, councillor James Richardson

The Mi’gmaq Peacekeeping program places a strong emphasis on early intervention, deterrence, and de-escalation strategies, ensuring the maintenance of community well-being. Utilizing Peace Keeping as an alternative approach to community safety and distinct from enforcement-centric methods employed by traditional police or RCMP. MPI in partnership with Pabineau First Nation recognizes the limitations of conventional policing in meeting the unique needs of our communities, aiming to overcome challenges such as over-reliance on external law enforcement, extended response times, and cultural insensitivity.

Our graduates have undergone comprehensive training, equipping them with the skills needed to address a range of issues, including mental health, addiction, generational trauma, gender-based violence, and colonial legacies.
