The Big Boom!
The Pabineau First Nation in New Brunswick is experiencing an economic boom with new developments aimed at generating significant revenue. Under the leadership of Chief Terry Richardson, the community has opened a new gas station and is constructing a retail center, with future plans for a hotel and conference center. Located at a busy crossroads, these developments are expected to bring in millions of dollars annually, funding essential infrastructure and housing. However, the recent termination of tax-sharing agreements by the New Brunswick government poses financial challenges. The First Nation is negotiating a new deal while continuing to push forward with its economic plans to support community growth and address housing shortages.
